Knowing the type of hair is important because you can determine the right style and treatment for your hair. After that you can get the hair style that you want and become more confident day by day. Check out these 3 methods to determine hairstyle.
- Method 1 Knowing The Thickness
Take a look at yourself in the mirror and comb your hair to have a center hair swept. Make sure that you really make your hair exactly in the center. It is better to use hair pin, so the hair swept is absolute in the center of your face. Take a little hair to see the roots from every side. Be sure that you are in a room that has a good light. So you can determine the thickness of your hair based on how much hair you have on your hair. Your scalp will be seen around 5 cm radius. So you know the thickness of your hair exactly after doing this step. Having thick hair means that you can’t see the scalp because the hair covers it all. Having medium hair means that you can see the scalp but it is not really clear. Then having thin hair means that you can see the scalp clearly. By touching your hair, you can also know how thick is your hair.
- Method 2 Determine The Texture of Hair
Shampoo your hair just like usual and don’t forget to use conditioner too. Then you should rinse your hair cleanly, so there is no shampoo or conditioner left on your hair and scalp. Make sure that you are not doing any hard exercise that produce much sweat in order to get the best result. After knowing the type or texture of your hair, you can know how to treat, cut, and style your hair well. This step include the understanding of hair character such as thickness, texture, elasticity, and the ability to maintain the humidity. You should dry your hair naturally without using any tools or chemical products. How to do it naturally? Just use the thin cotton cloth or let it dry by the wind.
Try to take a sheet of hair to make sure how thick it is. Make sure this sheet really represent the condition of your hair. Do it while your hair is dry for a good result. But you can also examine your hair after using a hair product like hair tonic. Then compare your hair sheet with thread, then you can know how thick your hair is. Pay attention, if your hair is curl, so you have to make it straight to compare with thread. If your hair is thinner that thread, your hair is thin. But if your hair is the same with thread, your hair is medium. If your hair is thick, your hair is thicker than thread.
- Method 3 Examine The Porosity
Shampoo your hair just like usual and don’t forget to use conditioner too. Then you should rinse your hair cleanly, so there is no shampoo or conditioner left on your hair and scalp. But, don’t wait until your hair is dry to do this step. The porosity is exactly seen if the hair is still humid. Then touch your hair with your hands from the root to the end. Knead your hair softly to know the humidity. If your hair is in low porosity, your hair is dry because the ability to hold the humidity is low. If the porosity is medium, your hair is not really adhered although it can hold the humidity. If the porosity is high, your hair is really adhered and wet in a long time because it is really humid.
Another way to examine the porosity is take off 1 sheet of your hair and let it flow in a bowl of water. Pay attention to your hair carefully. If the porosity is low, your hair will be floating easily in the water. If the porosity is medium, your hair will be floating but sometimes it is drowning. But if your hair sheet is drowning, the porosity is high. You can do this way in a different day. The weather is determined the hair condition. If the weather is humid, your hair will be quite humid although the real condition is not. But in a dry weather, the humid hair can be dry too.
